Editorial standards
These standards explain how SCHEV's editorial team verifies information, works with sources and corrects mistakes. We follow them in every piece, regardless of topic or urgency.
Fact-checking
Every fact in a piece is verified against at least one reliable source, and high-impact or disputed claims against several independent ones. We don't publish unverified information as fact.
Sources
We prioritize primary sources — official statements, documents, research data. Anonymous sources are used only when necessary to protect people's safety or access important information, and always with an explanation of why their anonymity is warranted.
Independence and conflicts of interest
The editorial team doesn't take editorial direction from advertisers, partners or third parties. If a writer or the editorial team has a personal or financial interest in a topic, this is stated directly in the text.
Separating news from opinion
News pieces present facts without value judgments. Columns, reviews and opinion pieces are clearly labeled as such, so readers always know whether they're reading fact or interpretation.
Corrections
If an error is found in a piece, we correct it as soon as possible and note the fact and substance of the correction. We don't silently delete published material — transparency matters more than a flawless appearance.
Advertising and sponsored content
Advertising and sponsored content is always clearly labeled and visually distinguished from editorial material. Advertising doesn't influence editorial decisions.
Respect for people in our stories
We avoid hate speech, stigmatizing language and unnecessary details that could harm the people we write about, including victims and vulnerable groups.
